Filming secrets and unknown locations: 5 facts you never knew about being on Travel Guides

Travelling around the world sure sounds like the best job in the world, but what is it really like to be on Travel Guides?

As our favourite Guides film the upcoming season (get excited!) we wondered what it really takes to be on the show. How long are they away from home? Do the Guides ever bump into their co-stars?

We've answered fans much-asked questions by rounding up some unknown filming facts and spotted some of the biggest clues to the new season below:

1. The Guides return home between trips – and the reunions are extra sweet

Travel Guides is as good a gig as it gets – travelling around the world with your nearest and dearest and reviewing the globe's most famous destinations.

But sometimes you need a 'holiday' from all your holidays! (It's a tough life, we know).

This week Bri revealed she was one her way home after a month of travelling. She'll get to catch up with her family and friends before hitting the road again.

"Finally back with my man tomorrow after being away from each other for 4 weeks 😫❤️," she captioned the snap.

While you don't see her partner in the show, the star shared a sweet photo of the loved-up couple online, as she counted down to the moment they're reunited.

Bri was very looking forward to "a much needed break" as she captioned an airplane selfie.

Speaking to 9Entertainment earlier, bestie Karly revealed that they do come home between trips which makes everything "a lot easier".

"If we were away for six months at a time, that's when things would get a little tricky because you'll miss them," she said about leaving her partner at home.

"But we come home in between trips so it's not that bad."

Bri chimed in with a laugh, "Our boyfriends don't care! They're like, 'bye, love you'."

...Even for furry friends

Just like Karly and Bri, Jono Fren will soon be on his way home after a month of filming, with a very special reunion waiting at home.

The son of the beloved Fren Family shared that it was his "beautiful fur baby, Lily's" birthday.

"I can't wait to get home in the next couple of days so we can spoil you rotten like you deserve 🐶🐾," he wrote in a sweet dedicated post online.

2. You only see your Travel Guides co-stars for a fleeting moment

"People either think that we do everything together or that we're not there at the same time," Matt previously told 9Entertainment about seeing his co-stars while filming.

It turns out neither is true.

"The truth is we all meet at the airport, at the same place and get on the same plane. But once you get to a destination you head off in your own separate direction," Matt explained.

"Everyone is doing something different each day. Depending on schedules you might see someone at lunch or dinner."

While those run-ins with their co-stars don't happen as often as they would like them to, Matt and Brett make sure they make the most out of them when they do.

"We always find out who has access to the lounge at the airport," the duo laughed.

And when they cross paths with the other travellers, they're always keen to ask them for recommendations.

"I'll tell you this for nothing, the boys [Kev, Dorian and Teng] are the best for food recommendations on holidays," Matt said.

3. You have no idea where you're going

Did you know, each Travel Guides location is a secret until the Guides arrive at the airport?

In fact, they only clue they get is a "vague packing list", according to besties Karly and Bri.

"They do give us a temperature gauge to work off so we know if it's a hot climate or a cold climate," Bri said.

As Dorian shared his travel snap above, it seems like he was ready for any climate!

"Going from 🥶 to 🥵," he captioned the snap with a freezing face and sweating face emojis.

4. You're constantly checking for your passport

As filming for the new season kicked off, Matt and Brett shared an all too relatable video online of the duo repeatedly checking inside their bag for their passport.

The caption read: "POV our passport every 30 seconds at the airport!!"

We can only imagine how often the pair will be doing that as they jetset around the globe once again.

And when once you do get home, passports are the last of your worries, when there's jet leg and the mountain load of washing you need to get on top of!

"Washing and jet leg... At least the sun in shining ☀️," wrote Matt and Brett in their first post back home.

Sharing to her Instagram stories, Karly joked that she takes "27,289,338 jet lag naps a day".

5. Your next location is a secret - but fans love to guess from your camera roll

If there's anyone that loves to take an iconic behind-the-scenes photo, it's trio Kev, Dorian and Teng.

The boys took to his Instagram to share a new shot from their travels. Although it's anybody's guess where in the world they are.

"City living 🏙️ Can anyone guess the city backdrop ?? 🤭," they teased.

In the photo, the trio are posing sky-high with a lit-up city in the background. Fans rushed to the comments to guess where the next Travel Guides stop might be.

"Toronto perhaps? It's very flat..." commented one follower before the boys confirmed it was not.

"Bangkok 😍," guessed a number of fans who pointed out "the never ending cityscape" and the city's iconic IconSiam shopping centre in the background.

"Definitely Bangkok!" a second agreed.

"Almost opposite ICON Siam," a third pointed out.

Days earlier, one third of the trio, Kev shared a snap from a completely different place in the world.

The boys posed in what looked like a country side location amongst some autumnal leaves while in another they were cruising through a very blue sea.

Kev, Dorian and Teng were all smiles in what appeared to be a sleeper train, and in another photo fans could spot an 'In-N-Out Burger' takeaway logo.

Could that be a clue the boys are headed to the US?

Wherever they are, we can't wait to find out next season!
