This is hands-down the best Ikea hack ever

Last year Ikea-hack fans collectively held their breath as the Swedish furniture giant slapped an unofficial modification site with a lawsuit. The gods smiled, the lawsuit was dropped, and the hack-happy community got back to what they do best.

This hack is the furniture equivalent of when your two favourite celebrities hook up and their children are just perfect.

Reform, a Danish company which specialises in customising Ikea's flat-pack kitchens, has enlisted Danish architecture studios BIG, Henning Larsen and Norm to hack the Metod kitchen.

If you're not versed on who these architects are, they're the A League of the Scandinavian architecture game.

Each hack is totally different from the others, showcasing the firm's unique take on Scandi style.

BIG, has added handles made from car seat belts to the cupboards of its kitchen, with black fabric looped over and fitted behind the top corner of each door. This range comes in white and oak.

Henning Larsen Architects have mixed warm and cold colours, adding vertical strips of metal to the edges of wooden cupboard doors. There are options of oak veneer with copper and white or black steel band spray-painted panels.

Copenhagen-based Norm Architects, removed the handles from the surfaces and replaced them with magnetic touch latches for a minimal look. There's fibre-reinforced concrete, bronzed tombac metal, oak-sawn veneer and smoked oak.

So how do you get your hands on one? Customers send Reform their Ikea order confirmation, drawings and choice of cabinet fronts and countertops options.

But, sorry folks — you'll still have to wrangle with Ikea hinges and bracket instillation as the customised designs are delivered flat-packed.

The three designs kitchens will debut at Danish trade show Northmodern, in Copenhagen from today until August 15.
