Ron has likened it to scrolling through Tinder – you need to do something a bit special to elicit a right swipe.

And that's just what he and Georgia have tried to do by painting the façade of their house a "very dark grey."

"It's edgy, sophisticated and sexy," says Ron of their risky choice. And a definite standout in the middle of the rest of lighter coloured Block abodes.

But not everyone is a fan of the moody hue, with Sticks and Wombat comparing it to a haunted house. "It looks like The Addams Family house," muses Wombat.

So, just how important are front façades when it comes to marketing and selling your house?

Long-time Block buyers advocate Nicole Jacobs says she hasn't seen any evidence of darker paint attracting more buyers at auction, although she concedes they are very popular at the moment.

"Charcoal grey in both the light grey and darker grey, coupled with white window frames, or even the darker frames like Ronnie and Georgia's, are popular and bring a contemporary feel to a renovated period home.

"But what most attracts buyers at auctions is a good paint job!"

Jacobs says if you're going to go with a dark façade and contrast with lighter frames or accents, you need to make sure your work is razor sharp.

"Buyer numbers are about broad appeal. If you can appeal to a broader cross section of buyers, you will create more competition."

Let's see how Morticia and Gomez go on auction day, shall we?
