Episode 44 recap: Lisa and Rosco make desperate move after budget disaster

It’s not just a few heads hurting after last night’s explosive Block dinner to farewell Rosco’s dad.
During a confrontation over the surprise guests in the sharehouse, Courtney and Jolene disagreed about the interaction Jolene had with Wyatt weeks ago, which left her feeling “intimidated”.
Water under the wine cellar? Nine
Courtney has woken up regretting how she invalidated Jolene’s feelings, so she pops across the road to apologise.
“Me saying you can’t feel a certain way is obviously really wrong, so I apologise for that,” Courtney tells her.
Jolene appreciates her owning the situation and officially closes the book on that issue.
Speaking of books … Lisa’s are cooked.
“They aren’t loving The Block right now,” Foreman Dan says of House 3. “It’s their own fault,” he adds. Um, ouch.
Savage. Nine
He says they haven’t managed their books well enough, or pushed back on staggeringly high tradie bills.
It leads Lisa to tears.
“I just wanna pay them and send them home,” she sobs.
While Lisa cries, Tayla dances.
She’s excited about her “game-changer” this week, a SaltPod that brings a sauna, gym, spa bath and ice bath to their backyard in one luxe-looking pod.
If they can get it to fit.
Someone along the way measured it wrong, and now the pod is dangling in the air by a crane, too wide for the spot it’s meant to go.
It looks lovely up there. Nine
Next door, there’s been an interesting new sign erected on Courtney and Sev’s fence: their rooftop terrace council application.
Adam spots it and quickly rallies his neighbours to join him in objecting.
That night, it’s finally Cheryoke time.
The teams roll into a drive-in movie theatre along with Scott Cam, Shelley Craft and Block All Stars Eliza and Liberty for some rather questionable entertainment.
Thanks to some deeply impressive backwards skating skills from Rick, he and Tayla are declared the winners and get a much-needed $10,000 budget boost.
If a video of me singing was dubbed by AI and broadcast across the nation, I wouldn’t emerge from my room for weeks.
But incredibly, everyone has returned to site the next morning. Kudos to them.
And kudos to Rick for making a bold call without Tayla – after he realises their SaltPod will block an important part of House 5’s backyard view, he makes the executive decision to remove it.
She’s fine with it. Nine
After a quick walkarounds, production realises how strapped for cash everyone is and throws them a bone.
Lisa and Rosco in particular are doing it tough. So tough they even tried offloading a sauna they can no longer afford to Scotty or Shell.
Instead, it becomes part of the prize pool for our second challenge of the day: a cooking challenge from YouFoodz.
Magically, after 45 minutes of cooking, the winners are … Lisa and Rosco!
They win some cash and, uh, the sauna they already owned. Congrats!
Nothing quite like winning something you already owned. Nine
On Sunday, it’s the biggest reveal of the year as the judges up their step count in these mammoth backyards.
