Block winners Jimmy and Tam show off matching tattoos they got before the show

For a lot of people, 2020 is a year they'd rather skip over.

But for The Block's Jimmy and Tam it's been an incredible year and one that changed their lives forever.

The Queensland couple won the series, taking home just over $1 million in prize money. Today they revealed on Instagram that they got matching tattoos before the show, which have so much more meaning now.

The couple shared a photo of their ink, matching #jimtam2020 tattoos on the back of their calves, and opened up about the story behind it.

"So, we got these matching cheesy tattoos before we went on the show. It's no secret that we both love tattoos," reads the caption.

"We actually got filmed getting them done for our back story back in January but it didn't make the cut. Actually camera man no.1 @nigelrungen said if we won The Block he would get it too. After the year that has been this tattoo has so much more meaning than we ever anticipated. @davidbctwilliamstattoos #jimmyandtam #jimtam2020."

Fans of the couple praised the tattoos and flooded the post with positive comments, but former Block couple Kyal and Kara took a cheeky dig at the camera man.

"Haha @nigelrungen are you going to stick to that promise?" Kyal and Kara wrote from their shared account.

While it was optimistic getting a tattoo before the season even kicked off, the experience is definitely one the couple will be glad they have a permanent reminder of.

This isn't the first time Block stars have got tattoos to commemorate their time on the show either.

After going through a lot in the 2019 season, the ladies — El'ise, Tess, Deb and Mel — got inked together.

All four women got a little Inguz rune symbol that loosely translates to 'Where there's a will, there's a way'.

Deb, El'ise and Mel got the symbol tattooed on their wrists, while Tess opted for her back, and they all debuted the new tattoo on their Instagram accounts in February.
