Things get tense when a tie is announced

Things haven’t exactly been rosy between Ronnie and Georgia and Elyse and Josh. The two couples are competitive and talented and a series of challenges, requests gone wrong and the fact they’re each other’s biggest competition hasn’t made for a smooth relationship so far. That wasn’t helped by this week’s Room Reveal.
After being told their last room resembled a nightclub, House Three were determined to bounce back better than ever. It was a rough week for them, with a heated body corp meeting turning personal and Georgia accused of cheating. But, true to form, the pair put their heads down and turned out a Living Dining room that the judges deemed “pitch perfect” and sophisticated. “It’s skill that I’ve rarely seen on The Block,” enthuses judge Neale Whitaker.
But Josh and Elyse returned fire with a space that was “very cool” and drew gasps from the judges upon arrival. “This is like the greatest hits of all the other houses,” says judge Darren Palmer. “It’s got soul,” finishes Neale.
Letting them down was the fact time challenges led to them being unable to light their real fireplace and sensing they might cop a point loss because of it, Josh and Elyse decided to play the bonus point they’re been hanging on to. “We were only half a point down going into the last scoring,” explains Josh as he and Elyse share knowing glances and Elyse gives him a nod. “Yeah, we’ll use it.”
Smart move. Playing the bonus point meant that he and Elyse drew with Ronnie and Georgia, splitting the 10,000 dollar prize money and the Stayz getaway.
Well… that’s a bit awkward.
Georgia and Ronnie seemed genuinely excited at the prospect of sharing a break with their rivals but as they beamed and cheered, Elyse and Josh looked as though they had just been sentenced to a night in prison. “I find it quite amusing,” Wombat laughs at the immediate level of tension over the mismatched date.
“I am glad that we actually get to hang out with Josh and Elyse,” says Ronnie. “Maybe this is just what we need...to tell you the truth, we’ve never actually sat down with them.”
But before the bonding and relaxation can kick off, Ronnie has a request of his new roomie. “We need 8,700 dollars owed by Josh and Elyse,” he says to Scott Cam, who declares that the shared winners have to hand over the money.
However, in summing up the detail around the challenge win, the other contestants learned via Scotty, seemingly for the first time, that Ronnie and Georgia also won 50,000 when they took out the 48-hour Challenge and no one was pleased about it whatsoever, least of all Elyse and Josh.
“So, we won 5,000 dollars and we lost 10,000,” says Josh, deadpan.
While Ronnie excitedly rambles about how the winning teams will share a “kick arse slumber party” and that what’s happened tonight is “divine intervention” and a “turning point” that’s “meant to be,” the other winners are busy squashing dreams.
