Bold floorplan change comes back to bite Sticks and Wombat

“We’re hoping that it’s not size that matters this week, but what you actually do with it,” said Wombat about this week’s room – in their case, a small home office.

Turns out, yes – size does indeed matter, as well as what you do with it.

Back in week two, the boys stole space from this week’s room to create a larger ensuite – which Domain Editor Alice Stoltz warned could well be too big. This week, it appears that decision has come back to haunt them.

Judging begins rather bluntly. “Are we in the broom closet?” Shaynna Blaze says dubiously, adding that the room is basically a cupboard with a desk.

“This is because they did that enormous ensuite next door that they’ve ended up with this – wow – little study,” she says. (“It would have felt big if she was in there!” Sticks quipped, upon hearing the petite judge’s sentiments.)

“At what cost is that big ensuite to the house?” Darren muses.

They weren’t alone in copping criticism. Despite labelling Josh and Elyse’s “zen room” as “beautiful and stunning”, the judges were again unhappy about the change to the original plan that led to this week’s room being so small.
