Kylie and Brad's Backyard and Pool

It was a week from hell for Kylie and Brad, whose problems began early and just kept coming.
"Here I was thinking that landscaping would be fun," Kylie reflected on their week.

Things got off on the wrong foot almost immediately, as House 4's position down the end of The Block hindered their deliveries and caused delays.
From there, it seemed like they faced one hurdle after another, but they managed to pull off a mostly-finished, "low maintenance" backyard.
Scroll through to see what Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer, Marty Fox and special guest judge Dave Franklin thought of House 4's backyard and pool.
House 4's backyard featured one of the biggest pools this year, but budget constraints played a part in the rest of their space.
"It would've been nice to have had the extra cash to have the bigger deck, but we are trying to spread it," Brad explained.

The judges' first impressions were "great", Scott Cam said.
The first thing they noticed was the big, "great-sized" pool.
"It's a major selling point isn't it, having this pool area off that living space right there," Darren began.
"However..."
"It's a bit of a wasted opportunity given we've got a small area there," he continued.
"The rest of it's... no offence," he turned to Dave, "just landscaping."
No offence taken, as Dave agreed the space was giving him "absolutely nothing".
"I've got a runway of a boardwalk through here and I've got another pathway to the side there," he said, adding there was "wasted space" at the front of the pool.
"It might be a budget thing but there's no real big trees here that can have a canopy over, and this has enough space to put trees with canopies."
Kylie and Brad opted for a pool that was black inside – of course. Did that decision pay off?
Yes and no.
Dave liked the darkness of the pool but wasn't a fan of the tiles.
"I don't love fake tiles," he said.
"I'm sure it would look great elsewhere but on the pool here, it's just too strong a pattern for me."
Marty also critiqued the large pool as looking like "a water feature".
Kylie and Brad furnished their deck with two pool loungers, but Darren questioned it's balance of amenities like seating.
"You have lots of walkways, lots of different heights and different materials but not a lot of function, not a lot of enjoyable space."
They also styled their outdoor space with lots of black details – who would've thought?!
At HQ, Scotty read feedback to increase the size of the deck.
"I'm assuming you needed more money, more time, more labour and that was probably impossible," Scotty said.
"Definitely," Brad responded.
