'I thought it was a stitch-up': How the Block teams reacted to the no plans bombshell
There's nothing like a bombshell twist to shake up reality TV and Scott Cam had a whopper up his sleeve for the 2021 Block teams.
After picking their houses the Blockheads were all asking the same question: "Where are the plans?"

But when they eventually got the plans, it wasn't quite what they wanted. Turns out this year there are no plans. Ronnie was sure the move was just a "stitch-up" for the returning teams.
For Vito, who is on one of the new teams with no renovation experience, the revelation of no plans was horrendous.
"That was a horrendous, horrible day," he told 9Entertainnment about the bombshell.
"For me especially, I work with plans, I love window schedules, I love elevations, I love dimensions — give me that all day long and I will follow that through and through."

Tanya added, "He's a rulebook guy, he's like 'Show me what it is and I'll execute it'."
"I love instructions," Vito said proudly.
For seasoned renovators Mitch and Mark, once the shock wore off, they were into it.

"When we opened the plan and it was kids' drawings, it was like 'Oh this is a mixed blessing' because in some ways it's great," Mark explained.
"We kind of went 'Great, we can play with plans', and we've always done that, mixed it up, but at the same time you have to actually know the whole house. Like it's all very well to go 'Oh that's great, let's just do a bedroom', but you have to know where that bedroom fits into the whole house."
While Mitch and Mark were known for flipping plans around on the Oslo, Ronnie and Georgia wanted to take things easy this time and just stick to their plans.
"Generally you get the architect's floor plan and then you can rearrange things if you want to," Georgia said.
"Our plan this time around was to just go with the flow. We're not going to rearrange things, just go make it easy on ourselves. And then, we're so excited to see the floor plans, and then when they showed us there was nothing we were just like [grimacing]."
"I thought it was a stitch-up," Ronnie said bluntly. "I thought for sure they wanted to disadvantage the All Stars and this was how they're doing it, because there's no way the newbies could have done it."
Kirsty said it was "really scary" to have no plans and during the first couple of days. She and Jesse were convinced there had to be a plan for the houses.

"I didn't even want to make a decision on which house to choose without having a plan because you don't know," Jesse said.
"There's like, Josh and Luke's house just looked like a sea shanty with a concrete slab."
But surprisingly there was one team that actually loved the bombshell twist, the Love Island boys, and they're the ones with absolutely no renovation experience.
"We were hoping it was going to be no plans," Luke said.
"We were always interested in the house we chose — House 4 — and it's also the first ever home just with a slab."
"We really enjoyed that you could just put your own touch on the house," Josh added.
With no plans and a lot of room for creativity — and stress — we'll have to wait and see what the teams can do.
