MAFS 2026 Episode 2 Recap: 'Princess' bride stranded at altar with no groom in sight – and a rogue uncle exposes a family secret

We're back for more first impressions, sparks and wedding day mayhem.

Tonight, two new couples walk down the aisle – but one in a very non-traditional order, much to the dismay of the bride. Plus, one family member's big mouth threatens to ruin another pair before they've even cut the cake.

First, let's check in with last night's newlyweds.

Alissa and David have been cuddling up a storm and they're going to need to keep that up, because their dreams of a tropical honeymoon are soon dashed by the words "snow-covered peaks".

Put away your swimmers, lovebirds!

Rachel and Steven are also waking up very happy and excited to be whisked away to Mudgee.

How lovely for them ... next!

Bring on some good old-fashioned wedding chaos.

Mel and Luke's wedding

Luke is a 30-year-old farmer who has put his love life on hold for many years following the death of his father.

Now that he's ready for a relationship again, he's hoping the experts can find him his person.

He's looking for a woman who is a quietly confident, feminine, "girly girl" ... and his match opens up with "I'm a pink girly looking to find my blue".

I don't think that's an Avatar thing.

Her name is Mel and "blue" means she wants a rugged man to treat her like a Disney princess and carry her groceries.

They each begin their wedding day talking about romcoms and fairytales so this is all going very well.

Until Luke accidentally makes a very non-Prince Charming move.

He's already on the way to the ceremony when he realises he's forgotten the rings. Turns out, they're pretty crucial to the day.

Luke and his sisters have to make a panicked U-turn to collect them, while a clueless Mel is well on her way, wondering if her groom is already at the end of the aisle waiting for her.

Their guests soon hear footsteps and ooohhhh nooooo ... It's Mel.

"Where's my husband? Is he here?" she wonders.

No one knows and the guy joking that Luke's chickened out isn't helping!

Finally, finally Luke arrives and has to awkwardly power walk his way to his own wedding ceremony and profusely apologise for his tardiness.

His woopsie is a real crowd-pleaser ... but Mel's not in the crowd.

"That experience for me I feel like was a bit ruined," she says.

Not ruined enough to not say her vows, though, which gives her ample opportunity to once again talk about how much she loves pink and wants a man to build furniture.

A trait she has decided is definitely not blue is a man realising way too late into his wedding ceremony that he's chewing gum.

Luke has to do a rather undignified spit of it into his sister's hand and Mel's ick is potentially marriage-ending.

And their marriage hasn't even officially started yet!

As Luke says all the right things in his vows, she disassociates. Not even a rom-com reference can undo this disaster.

"I just don't feel like I got my fairytale. I don't feel like Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail,' she sobs.

During their photoshoot, Mel airs out her feelings and Luke's pretty receptive.

He apologises, again, but it does little to lift her mood.

At their reception, Mel's so icked out that her face is stuck looking like she's smelt something terrible. And absolutely everyone notices it.

She tells her mum about her feelings and receives a very level-headed response. Her mum says it's not a huge deal that Luke was late and spat out gum and made her feel like Adam Sandler's quirky best friend.

Mum thinks Mel should move past it to give him another chance.

The bride graciously takes the advice on board ... just kidding!

The newlyweds end their night with a private chat where Luke offers his 240th apology of the day. But, mum's advice be damned, Mel explains she's very much not ready to move on.

If he keeps apologising he'll be "blue" in the face. Actually, that's exactly what she asked for, right?

Gia and Scott's wedding

Our next groom drives a fast car and appears to be regularly flipped off by random members of the public.

His name is Scott, he's 33 and an extremely relatable guy.

He says he's married to his three businesses, but he doesn't want to be just a job bigamist. He's also ready to settle down with one single human woman.

That woman is hopefully self-proclaimed "catch" Gia, a 35-year-old disability support worker who is desperately hoping her new husband is anything but "vanilla".

She knows people see her as a bimbo but underneath the surface, she's smart, headstrong and a loving mother to her daughter.

Expert Alessandra Rampolla for one is very excited, because this match is bound to get hot and heavy.

"These two have the potential for the highest level of sexual chemistry we've ever seen on Married At First Sight," she predicts.

Gia's wedding day does begin rather fiery ... but not in the way Alessandra would hope. Instead, her best mates have indulged in some morning champers and have come in way too hot.

It leads to a stand-off with bestie William, who deems Gia "a diva" and storms off.

"You're not Mariah Carey, sit down," he reacts – one of a dozen stunning one-liners. I'd like this man to narrate my life.

Much to Gia's horror, it's not until she arrives that she realises her wedding is on a beach and her $1500 heels are not going to survive it.

Her swearing carries in the wind and the entire wedding hears her before they see her, but soon enough Gia and her bare feet meet Scott at the end of the aisle.

They and their matching veneers are very happy with what they see and hear in each other's vows.

Even Scott's mum reckons Gia will be good for her "boring" son, and what a tick of approval that is!

It's a great start but Gia is stressed that telling him she's a mother will change that.

She wants to get to know him throughout the reception and then reveal it at the end of the night ... which means none of her friends or family better blab.

Naturally, this means someone blabs.

It's her uncle John, who accidentally lets it slip to Scott's parents after being asked what Gia does for work.

The poor guy sees his life flash before his eyes as soon as the words come out.

It's not long before Scott's mum asks Gia about it, sending her spiralling.

After confronting her uncle she pulls Scott aside and spills the beans.

And despite all her concerns, he's completely unfazed.

"She's a part of you which is a part of me," he says.

With that out the way, there's nothing left to do but remove her garter with his teeth.

Tomorrow night, we've got more weddings to attend!

At one, that very divisive Chris fella from the bucks night is back – to disparage the experts, pretend he really does not care about something he deeply cares about and get married.

At the other, bride Bec is in tears over ... an arrest? Man, you never know what you're going to get with a MAFS wedding, do ya?
