How MAFS' Ryan Gallagher and Olympic swimmer Emily Seebohm kept their engagement secret for months
Married At First Sight's Ryan Gallagher and Olympic swimmer Emily Seebohm announced their engagement in March 2023.
But in a recent TikTok video, the bride-to-be confirmed that Ryan, 34, had actually popped the question months prior – but the duo kept it a secret from everyone.
In the clip, Emily, 30, posted a series of photos with the caption: "All the events we went to engaged, but no one knew".

She then shared a photo of herself in a hot pink dress and matching hat, captioned: "Launch of Twilight Polo – posted this on Instagram! (On my other hand)."

The original post was actually shared on December 14, 2022, meaning the couple had been engaged for at least two months prior to their announcement.
The couple went Instagram official the very same month.
Emily also shared photos of the couple at a friend's wedding, at a test cricket match, one on New Year's Eve, one during a trip to India and another at the Australian Open.

She also shared one of the couple in matching festive pajamas, captioned: "Christmas I posted a selfie with my ring in it, and quickly deleted..."
Alongside another snap, she wrote: "Hands in pocket was my go to!"
The couple eventually confirmed the happy news on March 6, 2023.

Ryan proposed to Emily at a dam on his farm just outside of Goulburn in NSW.
"I thought it was the right spot to do it – she loves the horses and she often swims in the dam," he told Woman's Day.

"I did get nervous though. The [ring] box was making a bit of a bulge in my pocket. So either she knew I was proposing or she just thought I was happy to see her."

The couple met while competing on Network 10's The Challenge Australia in 2022, although Emily was in a relationship at the time.
Knowing she had feelings for Ryan, Emily decided to end things with her then boyfriend.
"Obviously it wasn't a nice call to make, but I told him what was going on and that there was something there with Ryan and I didn't see the point in wasting any more time," she said.

The couple first went Instagram official with their relationship December 5, 2022.
Ryan posted a sweet snap of the couple with a simple heart-eyed emoji.
Meanwhile, Emily shared a loved-up picture of the couple with the caption: "Letting you in on a little secret."
