Exclusive: MAFS groom Adrian opens up on his difficult past in unseen audition tape: 'Everyone has their hardships'
EXCLUSIVE: Married At First Sight groom Adrian had wife Awhina fuming when he refused to write a Confessions Week letter, explaining that he wasn't ready to open up about the darker moments in his life.
But in his unseen audition tape – which you can watch in the video above – the 30-year-old lifted the lid on some of his difficult past.

"Growing up my life was a bit harder than your regular Joe's but everyone has their hardships," he said briefly.
The groom also opened up how being raised by a single mum has influenced the type of women he gravitates towards in his dating life.

"I've always dated independent women, and my mum being a single mum maybe there's a correlation," Adrian said.
He cited his wanted his future wife to be "someone that is confident but not overly confident".
"I like someone that can work with people not a woman that can do everything by herself and has that 'man-tality'," Adrian continued.

In his audition tape, Adrian was transparent about some of the difficulties he had growing up.
"I was in the lower classes and this teacher used to make everyone read aloud and that was my nightmare," he said.
"I wasn't well spoken and I mumbled a lot."

Adrian, who is an identical twin, has been matched with Awhina, who is also an identical twin. Nine
As he got older, he said he found in an interest in self-development.
"You have to develop that mindset that you are worthy and you are great."
