'I don't chase girls': Jesse's 'gross' comment leaves Claire reeling before the first Dinner Party on MAFS 2023
As we reached Episode 6 of Married At First Sight, it's fair to say Jesse wasn't having the smoothest ride in the experiment.
The notoriously blunt groom had already clashed with his new bride Claire several times, thanks to his brutally honest comments about her love of star signs and "loudness".

And the controversial groom was quick to add another clanger to the list before the first Dinner Party, after Claire attempted to reconcile with him and enter as a unified pair.
But when she quizzed him as to why she was the one who had to make the first move in attempting a reunion, Jesse coolly told her: "I don't chase girls."

"It's not about chasing," Claire retorted. "It's about being a grown a-- man and taking accountability for your s----- behaviour."
Immediately irritated by his "gross" comment, Claire told Jesse she now regretted coming to see him, adding his behaviour was still problematic.
"Why are you here?" she mused. "Why are you here wasting my time? You could have had a s----- relationship like this on a dating app."

Adding she didn't need a man, much less a "kid" like Jesse, Claire walked away once more.
Heading into the dinner party on her own, the heartbroken bride quickly had the support of the group – unlike her partner.
"Kill me," Jesse noted. "I am going into this scenario unequipped mentally to deal with the onslaught of bull---t that I anticipate I will receive."

Watching the pair awkwardly avoid one another, some of the brides encouraged Claire to take him a beer, in one last effort to show her husband she was willing to try.
But when Jesse dismissed the opportunity to chat privately, Claire finally had enough. Privately, she broke down in tears as she acknowledged, "I chased him again."

At the dinner table, the other participants encouraged Jesse to share his side of the story, judgement-free.
However, they were left in stunned silence when he detailed his version of "the shushing incident".

Bronte however, challenged Jesse about his opinion of Claire – a move which didn't sit well with the groom.
"Bronte is 100 per cent the enemy," Jesse noted, uncomfortably. "I would rather have a date with my toaster in the bathtub than have to listen to her speak."
Married At First Sight continues Monday to Wednesday at 7.30pm and Sunday at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
