Exclusive: Why Adam chose to keep his kiss with Claire a secret from Janelle and Jesse on MAFS 2023
Married At First Sight was hit with a major cheating scandal this week, after Claire finally told her husband Jesse that she did in fact kiss Adam during a night out weeks prior.
Jesse had always suspected something had happened between the pair, but was consistently told his suspicions were wrong. He even apologised to Adam and his wife Janelle for accusing the groom of doing something untoward.

After Claire finally revealed the truth during Episode 14, she, Jesse, Adam and Janelle spoke exclusively to 9Entertainment and revealed their account of what happened. You can watch what happened in the video above.
When Adam was asked why he hid the news from everyone, he said: "Just the gravity of the whole experiment, and I knew what it was going to do coming out...

"I just bottled it, kept it in and tried to move forward with my relationship with Janelle.
"I should have done the right thing and just told Janelle straight away, but I didn't have it in me at the time."

He went on to say he "instantly regretted" the kiss, adding: "I'm sure Claire felt the exact same way.
"We shouldn't have all been out together in the first place, we shouldn't have all been drinking the amount that we were drinking – it was just one of those things that happened, and I instantly regretted it."

Meanwhile, Jesse said that when Claire pulled him for a chat at Tayla and Hugo's wedding, he thought she was going to end their romance.
But when she revealed the truth about the kiss, he was in utter disbelief.
"I can't even describe it to you," he said. "There was just so much going through my head.
"Like, 'Ow that really hurts. I'm so angry with you right now, I'm so angry with Adam right now. What are my friends going to think, what is Australia going to think! Am I a simp? Am I the guy that just gets walked over?'"

Janelle felt the same, adding: "I was really surprised. For me to look so stupid defending him, and then all this stuff came to light... ugh, I felt so dumb."
