It's being described as "the most riveting, intense, powerful week" of Married At First Sight yet and it hasn't disappointed so far.

On the first night of the Couples Retreat we saw a heated exchange between brides Olivia and Domenica, which ended with Domenica smashing a glass on the table.

Embarrassed by her actions, Domenica knew she was out of line and needed to apologise to all the girls at the table.

In an exclusive interview with 9Entertainment, Domenica and Olivia weighed in on the incident and the aftermath.

"I was constantly being shut down, told to not use my voice, told to not speak up, told that my opinion didn't matter," Domenica began.

"When I realised that that was happening to me, that was shattering because that was really breaking down the core of who I am. It brought up past emotions, and it's no excuse."

While Olivia's words hit a nerve with Domenica, she wasn't sold on her apology.

"I think Domenica's apology was definitely riddled with a lot of excuses instead of accountability," Olivia told 9Entertainment.

"I think it was a good general apology for the whole group but she's never once apologised directly to me for directing her anger and her violence towards me."

For Domenica, she felt like her apology was an endless cycle that was getting her nowhere with Olivia.

"No matter how much I've apologised, and I've tried to explain why I got to that point, it was met with 'You're just making excuses'," she said.

"Look, I apologised and I was 100 per cent sincere, and I mean, all but two women (Olivia and Carolina) at that table that night accepted my apology."

"It got to a point in time there where I was like, 'Maybe I need to not speak, maybe I need to not use my voice'," she recalled.

"My emotions, my being told to muffle who I am, who I am is not good enough… that really got to me."

It will be interesting to see if the two brides set aside their differences at the Dinner Party.
