MAFS star Ridge Barredo reveals dislocated kneecap after horror Commonwealth Games injury
Married At First Sight’s Ridge Barredo has suffered a dislocated kneecap after his horror Commonwealth Games weightlifting injury, but vows: “I’ll be back.”
“Bitterly disappointing to go out the way I did at my 3rd Commonwealth Games. I gave it everything I had, but unfortunately sometimes this is how sport goes,” Barredo said on Instagram.

Ridge was on his third clean and jerk attempt, with 190 kilograms above his head, when he buckled and crashed to the ground.
“Fortunately, the MRI scans show only a dislocated patella. Time to recover and regroup. Huge shout out to everyone who’s messaged me, it doesn’t go unnoticed and it’s greatly appreciated. I’ll be back,” he said online.
His wife and fellow MAFS alum Jade Pywell was quick to show her support.
“So proud. Three Commonwealth Games is an achievement on its own,” she posted, alongside a photo of her and her 10-year-old daughter Victoria with Ridge.
On crutches following the incident, Barredo told reporters he felt a pop on his final attempt after trying to give it his all.
“The initial pain was an eight or nine out of 10. I’ll get some scans but, hopefully, it’s not too serious.
“It’s a first for me, which was a bit scary.”
Jade, 28, and Victoria were in the crowd when the injury happened, having travelled from the Gold Coast to Glasgow to watch Ridge compete.
Ridge recently told nine.com.au it was their presence that made Glasgow 2026 his most meaningful competition.
“One of the big goals when I said I was going to try to make it back to the Games was having Jade and Victoria there in the crowd when I’m doing what I love doing,” he said ahead of his event.
“So that’s really, really special to me, and something that I’ve always wanted.”
While his knee would require additional attention, he said the family had planned a European holiday following the Commonwealth Games – so hopefully, a little R&R would do wonders.
He also told reporters his weightlifting career was far from done.

“The future is ‘rehab the injury, see how it goes, get the body back ready, and then just listen to the coach and then keep going’,” he said.
“Because I’m not done yet. No way. Not a chance.”
Jade and Ridge met at the end of the MAFS aisle on 2024’s season 11 and have remained together ever since, with the TV groom packing up his life in Sydney after the show to move to Jade’s hometown of the Gold Coast.
