While the former Home and Away actress voted 'leave' at the Commitment Ceremony and Ash voted 'stay', the next morning they both mutually decided to call it quits and leave the experiment for good.

In an exclusive exit interview, Ash reflected on their short-lived romance and the moment he realised things weren't quite right for the couple.

"The wedding was quite surreal... the whole thing was absolutely crazy," he said.

"Madeleine dancing on tables, crying over cows and then eating meat... just an absolute s--t show. Wild, traumatic, crazy."

He added it was "strange" when Madeleine declared her love for him within seconds of meeting down the aisle, but it was the honeymoon where he realised "something wasn't right" between the duo.

But he's glad he gave things a go.

"I came into the experiment like, even if I don't have that initial connection, I'm definitely going to to try and get to know this person and work at it as previously in relationships I'd always check out," he said.

"I was like – you know what? This is my one chance to be all in, and I was all in... and that's what happened."
