Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson give an update on twin boys Levi and Tate

Married At First Sight's Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson are adjusting to life as parents in the best way possible with their twin boys still in hospital.

The couple, who welcomed their twin boys Levi and Tate 10 weeks early, have shared an update on how they are going in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and their birth.

In the video, which was uploaded to Bryce's YouTube channel, they admitted they weren't prepared at all for the boys to come early.

Melissa explained in the 24 hours before giving birth she had a really stressful day at work and was quite emotional, but didn't think it was anything out of the ordinary.

"We had no medical indication that they were coming early, so it was a very big shock," Melissa said in the video.

"I think the biggest thing for me was, on Friday the 15th I actually had my second Pfizer jab booked in. And I'd obviously gone to the doctors and spoke to my obstetrician and they had all said that it was safe for pregnant women to get their Pfizer jab but yeah, I had mine done and 14 hours later, I'd gone into labour."

Bryce added they weren't saying the vaccination had caused Melissa to go into labour earlier and instead "it could just be pure coincidence".

But the comments have been met with plenty of backlash, because there is no medical evidence suggesting that the COVID-19 vaccine causes premature labour, according to the Australian Government Health website.

A clip detailing the early labour uploaded to Bryce's Instagram has copped plenty of criticism and blasted as irresponsible.

"Are you blaming the covid jab for the twins being born prematurely? Lots of twins are premature. Your post already has people talking about pregnant women not getting the jab. Just wondering was that your intention," questioned one person on Instagram.

Another wrote, "It's pretty normal twins would be delivered that early - how dare you suggest the jab had something to do with it."

According to the Australian Government website it is advised that pregnant women do receive the vaccine and are recommended to get Pfizer. You can find out more about it here.

In the video the couple also provided an update on Levi and Tate, who are still in the NICU.

Melissa had a natural birth with the boys. Levi was born first with Tate following shortly after.

"They're actually doing really, really, well," Melissa said.

"I'm definitely not as positive as you are, but they're little fighters. They're little champions."

At first Levi was the stronger of the two and Tate, who was twin two, struggled a little bit after birth. But things have switched, and they've had some scares with Levi. Melissa opened up about it all in the video at the top of the article.

Although the weeks since the twins' arrival has been scary and at times difficult for the new parents, Melissa recently got to celebrate one beautiful milestone with both boys.

The proud mum shared a picture on Instagram holding both her babies on her chest for the first time.

"The first time ever holding my babies together. Of course I absolutely sobbed (happy tears). I love you now and forever, Levi and Tate," she captioned the post.

The couple look like they're in for a few more tough weeks before Levi and Tate will be allowed to come home.
