Love Island UK's Olivia Bowen opens up on her panic attack during her third trimester

Love Island UK star Olivia Bowen has opened up about the highs and lows of pregnancy as she prepares to give birth to her first child this June.

Olivia connected with her more than 2.9 million followers by allowing them to submit questions to a Q&A on Instagram.

After talking about some of the best moments of her pregnancy, she also revealed that at one point in her third trimester she suffered a panic attack, which her husband Alex helped her through.

"Yeah I've cried, I've been angry, I've been irritable, I've probably not been very nice to be around," Olivia replied to one follower question.

"When I got COVID that really sent me west because I just got to the third trimester and got used to being more tired. Then suddenly I got COVID and felt so so ill, and then when I had that panic attack, it really really threw me. Alex dealt with it so well bless him.

"If you've ever had a panic attack you know but you just completely hyperventilate and you lose the ability to be able to breathe it's absolutely horrendous."

Olivia admitted she put the panic attack down to everything hitting her at once.

"It was horrible. I think it was the combination of being pregnant, having COVID and then I put pressure on myself to get something done and it all went a bit mad," she continued.

"I ended up just not being able to move. Alex had to carry me in the house. It's all very dramatic but now I can laugh about it when I look back, obviously at the time it was very scary."

Olivia explained that while not every day has been "sunshine and rainbows", overall her pregnancy journey has "been amazing".

"I have really enjoyed it. I have been very very grateful and lucky and loved the feeling of it," she said.

When a fan asked Olivia how she was doing, she added that she hadn't had a panic attack in "years and years" but that she is now "feeling so much better and back to myself".

Olivia also revealed her hospital bag is all packed and ready to go, and that she and Alex have both finally agreed on both a girls and a boys name. 

The couple have decided to wait for their baby's birth to find out the gender, rather than finding out during the pregnancy.

While Olivia is due to give birth in June, she isn't putting any significance on her due date, telling her followers that only 4 per cent of babies are actually born on their due date. 

Rather she is more focused on her "due period".

"Babies after 37 weeks are no longer considered premature so for me any time after that the baby can decide to arrive," she told fans.

The birth of their baby also won't stop Olivia and Alex from going on holiday together, but they're bringing some special guests along to help.

"We've booked a villa in Mykonos for end of summer this year, and am taking my mum and step dad to help on our first holiday," Olivia revealed.

Olivia and Alex Bowen first rose to fame when they appeared on Love Island UK Season 2.

During the time on the show their whirlwind romance captured the hearts of viewers, and the pair ultimately placed runners up.

They became the first Love Island couple to tie the knot, getting married in September 2018. They had an eight-tier wedding cake.
