Entering the competition as friends, they reached the Grand Final in Season 2, finishing as runners-up.

Dragon in the Common Room | Episode 10
In the semi final, our teams put on the Sorting Hat and found out their Hogwarts house!
They were transported into the world of Harry Potter, tasked with building a mystical hallway that leads to a secret door. This secret door will open to reveal something magical, surprising and thrilling from their imagination.
At the end, the builds are displayed inside a hollowed-out section of the Hogwarts Castle and filmed with an Osmo camera, starting outside the castle and continuously travelling down the hallway to the secret door at the end.
Dai and Jiayuan got Hufflepuff, and while the loyal and kind house had many traits they loved, they really struggled with bringing it to life with Bricks!

Team China impressed Brickman with "Hollywood level lighting" in their hallway.
Equally as impressive was the way the doors at the end of the hallway flung open to reveal the firebreathing dragon.
But when it's the Semi Final, even the smallest mistake can jeapordise you place in the competition.

Brickman wasn't "sold" on the yellow colour of the dragon and thought that a contrasting colour would have made it pop better against its surroundings.
It was a small oversight but one that sent Team China packing right before the Grand Finale.
Sports Car | Episode 9
Hamish and Brickman decided to raise the bar with some good old movie magic for Episode 9's challenge.
Teams were tasked with building realistic-looking LEGO cars, which would then be brought to life by floor and rear projection to make it look like they were really driving.
To determine the style of their cars, teams were each assigned a different landscape: snow, desert, beach, countryside and forest.
They were then judged on how realistic their model looked and how well it fit within its landscape.
Dai and Jiayuan's landscape was the snow, so they went with a bright red sports car for contrast!

Brickman thought the bright red colour was an excellent choice by Team China.
The slightly larger wheels were another tick that the judge thought made the car really look "sporty".
But he did have a few doubts...

Brickman's keen eye noticed some exposed studs on the back of Dai and Jiayuan's car.
It was a small error but at this late stage in the competition, polish was key.
The mistake landed Team China in the bottom two although they were able to keep themselves safe and were into the Semi Final.
Chilli Girl vs Naughty Mouse | Episode 8
Episode 8's challenge involved creating a whole new generation of superhero – and they were all food-based!
To celebrate 100 years of Woolworths, contestants created a hero inspired by one of these fresh food minifigures: Watermelon Woman, Chilli Girl, Carrot Man, Pea in a Pod, Captain Corn and Banana Boy.
They needed to incorporate their fresh food superhero into an epic battle of good versus bad, showcasing their chosen minifigure's superpower, the adversary it's facing, and the setting of the battle.
It was also the last build with the MAGIC Brick up for grabs, guaranteeing the winner a spot in the Final Four!
Dai and Jiayuan were very pleased to get Chilli Girl – especially as Dai considered herself a chilli lover as well!
Chilli Girl vs Naughty Mouse | Episode 8
Their built told the story of Chilli Girl protecting a delicious hot pot from Naughty Mouse, who had taken control of the rice cooker to try and steal the food.
"We can clearly see Chilli Girl's superpower. She's got some sort of power to harness heat," Brickman judged.

Brickman liked their choice to "make inanimate objects come to life" with their robot rice cooker.
"I like the story a lot," he said adding "I don't think I could ask for much more."
Of course, Dai and Jiayuan were deemed safe after that great feedback!
