Queensland’s Gold Coast is well-known as being the theme park capital of Australia.  There are more rides, rollercoasters and attractions than any thrill-seeking holiday maker could wish for.

Long before the days of Dreamworld and Sea World, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary made its mark.

It all began in 1947 by beekeeper Alex Griffith.  He sold honey and flowers at his market garden and in 1976 Mr Griffith gave it all to the National Trust of Queensland For The People of Australia.

Currumbin continues to thrive and grow and has over 1000 native Australian animals and birds on display in natural bushland and rainforest.

Charli is a keen visitor, and was excited to try something new – a Segway Safari.

The next part of Charli’s adventure was to have lunch with the park’s largest saltwater crocodile, Boss Hog, well, she was about to serve Boss Hog his lunch.

Charli was strapped into a harness and stretched over the 5 metre Boss Hog’s very large, tooth-filled mouth.  Fortunately he was more interested in his lunch than he was in Charli.

There is so much to see on a visit to Currumbin.  Seventeen daily wildlife shows and countless displays have everyone wishing they had more time.

After dark, Currumbin comes alive with activity with Wildnight Adventure involving a barbecue buffet and tour.
