In Japan's capital city, Tokyo, Tim visited the monumental teamLab Planets digital art museum. Interaction is not just encouraged, it's all part of the journey, where art, science, technology, and the natural world collide. Tim stepped into an otherworldly dreamscape through themes of water, garden, athletics and future in an experience that has captivated over 2 million visitors a year.
Every exhibit encourages full engagement, the aim is for people to feel their physical bodies become part of the artwork. For some of the areas you'll remove your shoes and socks, others include physically challenging 4-dimensional works, or adding your own artwork to interactive installations, creating your own unique memories and stories.
Some of Tim's favourite experiences included the Floating Garden, 13,000 hanging real orchids, and the Infinite Crystal Universe, a breathtaking display of lights that seems to stretch on forever. Beyond the sheer spectacle, teamLab Planets also offers an educational aspect, allowing visitors to interact with digital representations of extinct animals.
