"It was so awkward," Steph captioned the clip, which showed how a messaged had appeared on her in-flight screen.

"9E has sent you a chat invitation," it read.

But she admitted she simply ignored the message, writing: "I turned off the screen to avoid interacting."

She also added in the comments that she "didn't reply or accept because he was sitting in the row in front of me... it was awkward."

A few people asked in the comments why it mattered that he was sitting in front of her, to which Steph responded that she "just wasn't interested".

"He had tried to talk to me prior and after did this," she added.

Plenty of people were shocked by the man's move, with one person commenting: "People will make anything a dating app these days."

Another said: "My anxiety operates at a high capacity, this would send me through the roof! Confined space and it's not like your can really hide!"

Others admitted they had no idea this function existed on some flights.

"Whaaaaat you can chat on airplanes now?! What in the reality show is that?!" one person wrote.

"Is this a thing now? At least airdropping had an element of anonymity to it," another quipped.
