All the airlines flying out of the new Western Sydney International Airport

Two domestic and three international airlines will be the first carriers to fly from the new Western Sydney International Airport, with passenger flights officially taking off on October 25, 2026.
Qantas and Jetstar, Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, and now Vietjet have confirmed new flights from WSI, with Jetstar operating the much-anticipated first commercial passenger flight.

Vietjet flights to Asia from WSI
Another new airline has signed up to operate flights to top holiday destinations in Southeast Asia from the new Western Sydney airport come January.
From January 10, Vietjet will operate two weekly services to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam increasing to three weekly services in March, 2027, with tickets now available for purchase online from $299, one-way.
The airline’s joint venture, Vietjet Thailand, also plans to operate four weekly services between WSI and Bangkok from November 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.

“Vietnam is an incredibly popular destination for Aussie travellers – in 2025 alone more than half a million people travelled between New South Wales and Vietnam,” WSI CEO Simon Hickey said.
The two services will arrive at 10am at WSI and depart for Ho Chi Minh City at 12.05pm.

Qantas and Jetstar confirm new WSI routes
Jetstar will operate the airport’s first flight, with an Airbus A320 set to take off from WSI to the Gold Coast at 11am on October 25.
“We’re incredibly proud that Jetstar will be the first Australian airline to begin operations at Western Sydney International Airport and Qantas will follow early next year,” Qantas Group chief executive Vanessa Hudson said.

Jetstar will operate up to 14 flights a week between WSI and Melbourne, four weekly flights to the Gold Coast, and three weekly flights to Brisbane.
Qantas will launch its passenger flights from the new airport in March 28, 2027, operating four flights a week to Brisbane and four flights a week to Melbourne.
“These Qantas and Jetstar services will give Western Sydney’s frequent business and leisure travellers more choice and flexibility,” Western Sydney International Airport CEO Simon Hickey said.
Qantas will also be one of the first commercial airlines to fly from the airport when its inaugural freighter service takes off from WSI’s 24-hour Cargo Precinct on the evening of Monday 27 July.
The Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) has welcomed the announcement, calling the new airport a “transformative addition to Australia’s travel landscape”.
“This is exciting news for Australian travellers and for the travel industry,” Dean Long, CEO, ATIA said. “Yes, it is a small number of flights to start with, but they link to some genuine holiday hot spots, and they mark the beginning of what WSI will grow into.”
“More flights always means more options for travellers,” he added.

Air New Zealand flights to WSI from October
Air New Zealand tickets connecting Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) and Auckland International Airport are now officially on sale.
The airline will operate three trans-Tasman return services per week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, beginning on October 26.
Flights will depart Auckland at 6.05am (NZT), arriving at WSI at 7.50am (AEST).
The return service will depart WSI at 9am (AEST), arriving back in Auckland at 2.15pm (NZT).
The airline will be operating internationally configured narrow body A320 and A321 aircfraft on the route.
“We’re delighted to have Air New Zealand as a trusted partner, with the airline significantly advancing its flight schedule to take off from WSI in October,” WSI CEO Simon Hickey said.
Singapore Airlines announces new direct flight
Singapore Airlines will fly from WSI to Changi Airport from November 23, where it will link passengers to its extensive international network.
The new daily service will depart Singapore at 11.30am (local time) and arrive at WSI at 10.20pm (local time)
It will then depart WSI on the same evening at 11.55pm and arrive in Singapore at 5.05am (local time) the following morning.

Flights to the Middle East permitted for WSI
Aussies will hopefully be able to fly to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates from the airport.
Both Emirates and Qatar Airways have been cleared to have daily flights to the Gulf nations from Western Sydney International Airport.

The 24-hour operation of WSI means that take-off and arrival times can align better with connecting flights from Dubai and Doha, which are also curfew-free airports.
Emirates already has three daily flights between Sydney and Dubai.
It has not yet been confirmed whether either airline will add WSI to its schedule.

Is Western Sydney Airport finished?
Construction of the Western Sydney Airport began in 2014 and the very first flight landed in October last year.
The Boeing 737 RFS air tanker took off from Richmond RAAF Base and made the short flight to the airport, which is in Badgerys Creek in south-west Sydney.
The landing was part of a training exercise that will also take place at the airport, designed to test emergency services and response to a potential incident that could take place at the airport once it opens.
“Our trial program is well underway, we’re getting more and more ‘match-fit’ each day as we put our infrastructure and systems through their paces to prepare for opening and at the same time, we’re training our staff,” Hickey said.
The airport officially kicked off its cargo operations in July, with the first flight taking off from the new state-of-the-art, 24-hour Cargo Precinct.
The precinct will eventually grow to service up to 1.8 million tonnes of air cargo annually.

Will there be a train station at Western Sydney Airport?
When the airport first opens, passengers using Western Sydney International Airport will have a few options on how to get there.
By car from the Sydney CBD you can use the toll-free M12 connecting to Sydney's motorway network via the M7. It is excepted to be complete ahead of the airport's official opening.
Express buses will also connect to Parramatta, Campbelltown, Penrith and Liverpool.
Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport will have two stations on the airport site, with a station at the airport's integrated international and domestic terminal as well as the on-airport business park.
However, the completion of the Metro line, which will connect to Sydney’s rail network at St Marys has been delayed until 2028.
