A travelling couple who live aboard a luxury yacht have faced backlash online after sharing a video of a shark feasting near their toddler son.

Australian influencers Elayna Carausu and Riley Whitelum, who are on a seven-year sailing trip with their sons Darwin and Lenny, were branded "super irresponsible" by one commenter after they posted a clip of themselves hand-feeding sharks.

Lenny, two, can be seen holding his mother's hand as Riley feeds chum to a thrashing shark while anchored in the Bahamas, prompting a deluge of concerned comments.

"Hand feeding sharks from our floating home," Elayna captioned the clip.

"We've seen a lot from this back porch, but nothing quite like this."

Shocked followers chastised the couple for feeding the shark so close to their toddler, while others expressed concern for the marine animal.

"This is terrible and super irresponsible, you are training sharks to associate human interaction with getting fed!" one person fumed.
