Bali dethroned? These are the places Aussies are most excited to visit this year
It's the destination Australians still can't get enough of.
Japan has topped yet another list of where Aussies want to go this year.
But some of the other places holidaymakers are dreaming of for 2026 were a little more surprising.

Hawaii, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York in the USA are particular spots Aussies want to go.
The nation came third on the list, behind New Zealand, according to holiday company Webjet's inaugural 'Go Somewhere Special travel trends report.

And another favourite has slipped down the list.
While Indonesia was, as expected, still ranked high, thanks to our eternal love for Bali, the destination now sits in fourth place.
Rounding out the ranking, the UK is also running hot as well as Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and Fiji.

Meanwhile, Italy remains the biggest European hotspot, according to the survey released this week.
The data said bookings for Japan are up 20 per cent compared with last January.
While it remains the most-booked place, Tokyo isn't the only city attracting holidaymakers
Osaka bookings have boomed 40 per cent.
Sapporo and Okinawa are also on the up. Both places have already been flagged as emerging hotspots in the nation.

It was also no surprise to discover for half of Aussies a holiday is the plan they're most excited about this year.
Webjet say 60 per cent of Aussies are planning to go overseas.
"Travel has evolved from being a once-a-year treat into something Australians are actively building their lives around," Katrina Barry, Managing Director and CEO, Webjet Group, said.
"People aren't just booking trips - they're planning moments to look forward to, whether that's a quick domestic escape or a dream international adventure."

Aussies are planning four trips across the year on average the number crunchers claim.
That's a mix of 2.6 domestic and 1.7 international journeys the way the numbers come out.
Relaxation emerged as the top holiday goal.
Affordability remains the biggest driver when choosing where to go, with the favourable exchange rate for Japan likely also having an impact.

When it comes to Australia, Queensland, the Sunshine State, is top of the list for holidays in 2026.
NSW and Victoria made up the top three, followed by Tasmania and Western Australia.
