Pilot reveals what happens after you flush on a plane
A pilot has shared some insight into what actually happens when you flush the toilet on an airplane.
Because despite the fact that some people believe the waste is simply dropped while in the sky, that's actually not true.
"Ever curious where it goes when you're on the airplane?" pilot Garrett captioned a video shared on his TikTok account, which has since amassed over four million views.

"Did you know that whenever you flush the toilet on an aircraft it actually doesn't dump out into the population down below," he pointed out.
"It goes through plumbing to the rear of the aircraft in the seal compartments, where the grounds crew at the destination will remove all that waste."
He went on to add that a toilet on a Boeing 747 (commonly used for long-haul flights) can be flushed over one thousand times and can hold more than 320 gallons (that's 1200 litres!) of excrement.
Plenty of people thanked him for explaining.
"That's my question since I was a kid," one person said.
While another shared their appreciation for airport workers, writing: "Grounds crew deserves a raise."

Meanwhile, some admitted to believing the old myth of poop dropping from the sky.
"I always thought it goes down peoples heads," one person commented.
"Ok, now I know. I used to think it does that down over the sea lol," another admitted.
Funnily enough, despite the 'interesting' nature of the facts, many were (understandably) more interested in Garrett himself.
"Sorry, I didn't pay attention to anything you said, I was too busy admiring your beauty," one person confessed.
"Yes, you can be my pilot anytime," another wrote.
"What airline do you fly for… I suddenly feel like travelling," was another comment.
