NYC's Museum of Pizza pop-up is oddly sensual

New York has cemented itself as king when it comes to producing photogenic museums – from the rainbow-sprinkled Museum of Ice Cream (yep, it's a thing) to a pop-up exhibition so damn Instagrammable they had to employ more staff just to stop visitors from hanging off the artworks.

The latest delicious foodstuff to get its own dedicated showcase is pizza (hallelujah!) – but if the strangely sexual promo ad for the museum is anything to go off, then pizza loving guests may be in for more than just a New York slice.

Presale tickets to The Museum of Pizza are now available to buy online ahead of their October 13-28 pop-up run.

There's still not much information out there to explain the ad's bafflingly erotic bent (check it out in the clip above), but we do know that for around $47 (US$35) museum-goers can embark on an "experiential pizza adventure" and explore "pizza-inspired immersive rooms".

There's to be a pizza art gallery, a pizza beach, a room screening pizza films, and – wait for it – a cheese cave (I KNOW!), which could be worth the flights to NYC alone.

The ticket price also includes one free slice, according to the website, though no word yet on whether additional slices will be available on the day.

Perhaps bizarrely, this isn't even the world's first pizza museum.

That honour belongs to a pizza shop in Philadelphia, who opened the Pizza Brain's Museum of Pizza Culture in 2012, showcasing an eclectic variety of pizza paraphernalia and toys inspired by the small museum movement.

If the popularity of the Museum of Ice Cream is anything to go off – people apparently waited in queues for hours to gain entry, with resale tickets starting at around $130 (US$100) – then we predict the city's iconic slice will draw in huge crowds. Run, don't walk, to secure a ticket.
