A museum dedicated to everything ice cream is opening in NYC

Amy Nelmes Bissett

It might be a lot to take in but brace yourself for this revelation straight out of NYC – an ice cream museum is opening in August.

Yep, aptly-named The Museum of Ice Cream, it's expected to open its doors for one month only during the city's summer peak.

Started by a "collective of ice cream-obsessed designers, artists and friends", the delicious venture will have a swimmable rainbow-sprinkle pool and an immersive chocolate room.

There's also a collaborative massive ice cream sundae (yep, we're not sure what that is either but delicious), a seesaw made from an ice cream scoop and even ice cream tasting.

It's essentially a chillier version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Those behind the concept want the focus to be about social media interaction and describe the event as a "likable, sharable experience".

The museum will open from 11am until 9pm each day, except for Sunday, and costs $18 for a single ticket, which includes an ice cream.

You can visit The Musuem of Ice Cream at 100 Gansevoort Street, New York, NY 10014.
