But what souvenir is the most ubiquitous?
A recent study by Ubuy examined 51 countries to determine the top 10 most popular souvenirs in 2024 based on popularity, price, and international tourist arrivals.

10. Talavera pottery tiles
Coming in tenth place are these intricate handpainted tiles, found in markets across Mexico.
The beautiful tiles can be used as artwork or for an accent wall in your kitchen or bathroom – just be careful when you're transporting them home!
9. Bohemian crystal
Czechia is known for high-quality crystal and glassmaking – tourists visiting the country often come home with a new set of glassware.
They're usually well-priced too, not much more expensive than getting a set of glasses from Kmart. Just of a much higher quality.
8. Yukata
In Japan, one of the most common souvenirs that people pick up is a Yukata, or a summer kimono.
At the moment, Japan is a hot travel destination thanks to the weak yen, so the country is seeing even more travellers than normal.

On a trip to Thailand, most people pick up a silk scarf – either as a souvenir to take home or a handy piece of clothing to have with them on their travels.

The most popular souvenir for travellers to the US is a T-shirt from New York City.
NYC is the most visited city in the United States, with over 11 million tourists flocking there each year.
5. Mini flamenco dress
These little flamenco dresses from Spain are so cute it's hard to pass up the opportunity to buy one.
Though they're more pricey than a magnet or keychain, these dresses are a hit with tourists looking for a souvenir to take home.
4. Maple Syrup
Canada is known for its pure maple syrup, so it's no surprise that a bottle of this golden stuff is high up on the list of the most in-demand souvenirs.
3. Murano pendants
Most travellers to Venice also stop by the island of Murano, which is famous for its glass blowing.
The most popular souvenir that tourists take home from Italy is a genuine Murano glass pendant.
2. Amber jewellery
Amber necklaces and bracelets are everywhere in Poland, so it makes sense that they're one of the most popular souvenirs to pick up.
The precious stone comes from the Baltic sea, and is believed by some to have magic or healing qualities.
The study found that Poland also has the highest estimated earnings from souvenir sales at more than $1.6 billion.
