Google has unveiled its 'Year in Search 2025' and one destination came out on top as the most popular place to look up for Aussies.

Dubai was the place Aussie travellers searched for the most on Google.

The city welcomed 9.88 million international overnight visitors from January to June 2025 – a 6 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to data published by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).

Visitors from Australasia are up 14 per cent YoY, making it the second biggest region of growth.

With new hotels and award-winning restaurants drawing travellers, Dubai continues to garner top rankings, having also been recognised as one of the 'best of the best' destinations in the 2025 Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards.

Indeed, stopover destinations dominated Google Search trends with Doha at number four and Singapore at number six.

The stopover-cation trend likely fuelled some of the popularity, as Aussies looked to make the most of big trips by essentially doing two holidays in one.

Australia's favourite island getaway Bali came in at number two, followed by a fast-growing alternative in Phuket, Thailand.

US destinations remained of interest with LA and Hawaii in the top 10 of the overall list.
