One of the best things about going on holiday and staying in hotels is that all your chores vanish.

You come back from a day out, and your bed's been made, your toilet paper's been folded, and your rubbish has been taken out.

However, that doesn't mean you can be a total slob.

In a recent Reddit thread, hotel housekeepers have shared some of the easy things hotel guests can do to make their jobs a lot easier.

The number one comment on the thread recommended that before checking out, you leave your used towels in the bathroom sink - not on the floor.

That way, housekeepers don't have to bend over to pick anything up.

"Repetitive movement injuries are common, and repeated bending can be one of the triggers," the top comment reads.

Another person added that they made a bundle out of their towels to make things easy.

"I lay the driest towel flat on the bottom of the tub, then put the rest of the used towels and washcloths on top, then I roll the dry towel around the rest so it forms a bundle," the commenter wrote. "That way, the housekeeper only has to touch the cleanest, driest towel."

A hotel cleaner chimed in, recommending that during your stay you keep your personal belongings off the bed.

That way, they can easily remake the bed without having to touch your things.

They also said they really appreciate it when all the rubbish is put in (or near) the bin, rather than strewn across the room.

In many rooms, the bins are pretty small. One person wrote: "We usually will have paper grocery bags that we use for excess trash and set next to the bin."

And while you're at it, it helps if you can empty any liquid from cups or cans in the bin, so housekeepers don't end up with leaky bags that spill old coffee on their shoes.

While some guests wrote in the thread that they strip the bed sheets before checking out, a housekeeper noted that they prefer if you leave them on the bed.

That way, they can "get a better look to make sure nothing is stained or torn and should be recycled before going back through the laundry system."

Another added: "Plus most of the time sheets have been removed, it's for some disgusting reason so leaving them on the bed is way more helpful and less scary in the long run."
