Or maybe the unlucky person in the middle seat should have a say, and be able to request access?
Or how about the passenger who is seated by the aisle.
Despite being the furthest away, are they entitled to chip in to whether it's up or down?

While often during night flights cabin crew will have them all pulled down, or on newer planes, windows will automatically be dimmed.
But at other times, passengers are left in charge.
We asked 9Travel readers their thoughts on the dilemma.

The response was clear.
By far the most people thought the lucky person in the window seat is the window controller.
A total of 66 per cent said that.
And while 15 per cent refused to accept that, a high number - 19 per cent said they were unsure.
So next time you're on a flight and you want to have a sleep but the sun is glaring through, unless you're in the window seat perhaps wear an eye mask.
