Couple get hitched on flight to Vegas in impromptu ceremony

Here comes the bride... down a different kind of aisle!

Couple Sara Jade Arroyo Montalvo and fiancé Bladimil Arroyo were headed to their private elopement in Vegas on a Southwest Airlines flight on August 13 when they asked to sit separately so they could finish writing their vows in private.

When flight attendants learned the nature of their trip, they had a different idea, and suggested an impromptu ceremony on the plane.

Bride-to-be Montalvo was given a makeshift paper crown with an attached veil made from toilet paper. She held a bouquet made from wooden coffee stirring sticks.

At 35,000 feet, she walked down the aeroplane aisle, where Arroyo was waiting for her.

The pair then exchanged vows while the plane’s captain officiated the wedding using the public address (PA) system. He revealed he had been an ordained minister for 30 years, but had never performed at a wedding like this one.

Montalvo shared the video of their impromptu wedding to her social media, thanking the staff for making their special flight a memorable one.

“Thank you to Southwest Airlines for a flight I will never forget,” she wrote.

“My now HUSBAND and I were catching a flight to Las Vegas to privately elope on our own. And when the flight attendants found out what we had planned, they made plans of their own! 35,000 feet in the air, 178 witnesses, and a captain who was an ordained Minister,” the post continued.

“Fate couldn’t have been more aligned. With a Southwest Airlines crown draped in toilet paper as my veil, coffee stir sticks for my bouquet, & last but not least the ✨ICONIC✨ 1ply toilet paper wedding dress made by your amazing flight attendants I got married on August 13, 2026!

“This was our first time ever flying with Southwest Airlines and you guys did not disappoint! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for an unforgettable flight! And making our elopement so special!”

The couple officially tied the knot in Vegas the following day.
