The most popular hikes in Australia have been crowned
AllTrails has revealed that Australians alone have navigated 11 million kilometres while exploring the outdoors via the app over the past year.
In fact, the country ranked third globally on the app for both time spent on trails and kilometres walked per person.
The app has released its annual 2024 Year on the Trails report, revealing the five most popular hikes in Australia for 2024 included, as well as what's trending for 2025.
5. Enoggera Reservoir Circuit (Enoggera Reservoir, Queensland)
In fifth place, this 10.9-km loop trail near Brisbane, Queensland is generally considered a moderately challenging route and takes an average of three hours to complete.
This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and mountain biking, as well as swimming in the warmer months.
4. Whistlepipe Gully and Lesmurdie Falls Loop (Perth, Western Australia)
This 6.8-km loop trail near Perth, Western Australia is generally considered a moderately challenging route.
It takes an average of two hours and nine minutes to complete, with walkers enjoying stunning views of Lesmurdie Falls.
3. Mount Lofty Loop (Melbourne, Victoria)
Found in Warrandyte State Park near Melbourne, Victoria, this 5km loop trail is considered a moderately challenging route and came in third place.
It takes an average of 1.5 hours to complete, with the area being very popular area for birding, hiking, and mountain biking.
2. Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach Walk (Sydney, New South Wales)
In second place is the world-famous Bondi to Coogee walk. This 12.4km out-and-back trail in Sydney is considered a moderately challenging route.
It takes an average of two hours and 51 minutes to complete offering stunning oceans views the whole way.
1. Grand Canyon Track (Blue Mountains, New South Wales)
Coming in first place is another hike found in a world-famous spot. The 6km loop takes hikers past waterfalls, ferns and breathtaking views, which define the Grand Canyon Track.
It is one of the most popular walks in all of the Blue Mountains National Park and is considered a moderately challenging route.
The Blue Mountains remains top of the to-do list in 2025 as well, with another route in the area topping the list for the most trending places as well.
Grand Cliff Top Walk (Blue Mountains, New South Wales)
For those wanting to expand on their hiking experience, the Grand Cliff Top Walk, nestled in the Blue Mountains, is a two-day adventure.
The 18km point-to-point trail, delivers unparalleled views of the Three Sisters, Wentworth Falls, and Katoomba Cascades. It is generally considered a challenging route, and takes an average of five hours and 49 minutes to complete.
Sherbrooke Forest Circuit (Melbourne, Victoria)
Looking at the hikes that have grown the most in popularity over the past year, based on user review, Sherbrooke Forest Circuit in Victoria is also one of the most trending for 2025.
This 11.6km loop trail near Melbourne is considered a moderately challenging route and takes an average of three hours and 56 minutes to complete.
3. Plenty Gorge Loop via Blue Lake (Melbourne, Victoria)
Also near Melbourne is the Plenty Gorge Loop via Blue Lake. This 7.2km trail is considered a moderately challenging route and is open year-round.
There are some steep slippery downhill sections and a slight rock scramble in some spots.
Mount Lofty Loop (Melbourne, Victoria)
The in Mount Lofty Loop in Warrandyte State Park near Melbourne, Victoria, remains trending for 2025 as well.
