Tasmania wins coveted crown of 'Australia's Best Beach' for 2025

From bustling stretches of sand packed with surfers and sunbakers to isolated beauty spots few ever discover, the official list of the best beaches in Australia for 2052 have been revealed.
The list is compiled each year by beach expert, Brad Farmer.
Farmer praised the "incredible diversity" of the nation's beaches, and crowned a surprise one the winner.

10. Cowes Beach, Victoria
Cowes Beach on Phillip Island was the only Victorian beach to make the top ten.
It's close to the seaside town, with shallow water making it popular with families.
9. Caves Beach. NSW
South of Newcastle in NSW, Caves Beach, which shares a name with the local town, is named after the dramatic caverns which line the sand.
Kids especially love to explore the caves, which are straight out of an Enid Blyton book.
They can only be accessed at low tide though, so check the times carefully.

8. Scarborough Beach, WA
A short drive from the centre of Perth, this beach was one of the few suburban ones to make the cut.
Beachgoers can surf, swim or simply chill on the sand, which is lapped by turquoise water.
7. 1770, Queensland
It might be small but the town of 1770 held up in the top ten list.
The sweeping beach, a few hours north of the Sunshine Coast, is as unspoiled as they come.
6. Fishery Bay, South Australia
Drive 20 minutes south of Port Lincoln to the beautiful Fishery Bay.
If you have a 4WD you can even drive onto the beach and set up for a day.
There's no wonder it landed in the top six.
5. Little Lagoon, WA
It might be an eight hour drive north of Perth, but Little Lagoon is worth the journey.
The unusual spot is dubbed by tourism bosses "a magnificent stretch of calm water ideal for swimming, fishing and frolicking in the clear shallow pools."
It's not far from Monkey Mia, which is famous for friendly dolphins.
4. North Kirra Beach, Queensland
Don't put the location right next to Coolangatta Gold Coast Airport put you off.
North Kirra Beach was the top suburban stretch of sand to make the top ten.
It's a World Surfing Reserve, with damatic views of the Gold Coast skyscrapers.
3. Emily Bay Lagoon, Norfolk Island
You'll need to fly from mainland Australia to get there, but Norfolk Island's Emily Bay Lagoon is an unspoiled haven of deep blue water.
2. Woolgoolga Beach, NSW
Narrowly pipped into the second spot was this beach on the Coffs Coast.
Known as Woopi, you can do everything from surfing to fishing here.
The spot also boasts scenic walking tracks and jaw-dropping coastal views.
It's between Byron Bay and Port Macquarie.
