'The worst': Annoying airport security habit that is slowing everyone down
When it comes to getting through an airport, the security area is without a doubt one of the more frustrating parts of the process.
Between differing rules depending on where you are and generally people just not being as prepared as they should be, most will breathe a sigh of relief once through to the other side.
Now, a travel expert has called out one particularly common occurrence that is causing way more delays than it should.

"The worst one for me is people who wait until they're about to step through the security scanners to check their pockets," Kyle Potter, executive editor of Thrifty Traveler, told Washington Post.
"And then they do a little dance of taking out their wallet and their keys and they're emptying a pocket full of change."

In fact, there are so many opportunities for you to do this before you even get close to the security area.
"The time to do all of those things is the moment you step out of the car," Kyle said.
Almost all of those items can go into a bag before getting into the security line, he added.

People slowing down the security screening (for whatever reason) was one of the most annoying things about airports also called out in a recent Nine reader survey.
Earlier this year, we asked Aussies "what is the most annoying thing at airports" and 11 per cent of respondents called out the security issue.
Something else that can impact time at security was a bug-bear for nearly a third of respondents (28 per cent), who called out "people with too much carry on" as their biggest airport gripe.
"People arguing on baggage sizes and weight are just ignorant and arrogant towards staff and should be banned from flying," one person responded at the time.

And don't even get us started on the 'aesthetic tray' trend that blew up on social media last year.
Specifically, this is people trying to take pretty photos of their belongings in airport security trays, for the gram.
There are many millions of related posts that have tagged photos with the "airport tray aesthetic".
At the time, the TSA in the US issued a statement to say: "as long as the staged glamour photos are not causing delays or issues with other passengers in the checkpoint, there are no issues."
The advice is simple really, just sort your belongings and get out of the way so the rest of us don't have to stand around for no reason.
