The Wallabies have become the first Australian team to miss out on the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals.
Tate McDermott, Will Skelton and Carter Gordon (pictured) were all picked to be key players in an unlikely "smash and grab" campaign that has failed dismally.

Angus Bell (prop): 7.5/10
One of Australia's few players who will leave France with his reputation intact.
A great athlete for a big man and never stopped trying or caring.
A Wallabies captain of the future.
Blake Schoupp (prop): 4/10
Only got 45 minutes across the first three games as Angus Bell played big loosehead minutes.
The former schoolteacher has the right frame and work ethic for Test rugby.
Adding some dynamism and skills is next on the agenda.
Dave Porecki (hooker): 5/10
His lineout work was strong until it wasn't in the crunch game against Wales.
Improbably found himself as captain as the wheels fell off around him.
The decision to turn down an easy three points in the first half against Wales was bizarre and costly.
Jordan Uelese (hooker): N/A
The hooker only played six minutes before leaving the field with concussion.
Sadly that bad luck has been the story of his Test career so far.
Matt Faessler (hooker): 5/10
Unlucky not to be ahead of Jordan Uelese from the start on Super Rugby form.
Similar to Dave Porecki in that he does the basics well without offering the X-factor of the world class hookers.
James Slipper (prop): 6/10
Manfully stuck his hand up to switch to his less preferred tighthead side following Taniela Tupou's injury.
Also one of the few Wallabies to put his hand up for contact against Fiji when others were wilting.
Has George Gregan's all-time record for Wallabies caps in his sights if he plays on next year.
Taniela Tupou (prop): 6/10
Outstanding in his only game against Georgia, where he threw a highlight reel pass for Ben Donaldson's first Test try.
But it was his power scrummaging and carrying that was sorely missed after suffering a devastating hamstring injury at training.
The spotlight is on Australia's strength and conditioning program.
Pone Fa'amausili (prop): 4/10
Only played 40 minutes and was unable to recapture his eye-catching effort against the All Blacks in Dunedin.
Has all the tools and now needs to prove himself as a dominant and consistent performer in Super Rugby.
Zane Nonggorr (prop): 3/10
Only played 36 minutes but doesn't look ready to be a Test prop just yet.
One of many Wallabies in the squad to be promoted before truly earning it.
