AS IT HAPPENED: Drua beat Reds to claim back-to-back Super W titles, Blues break Moana Pasifika hearts at Eden Park

The Blues have broken Moana Pasifika hearts at Eden Park, winning 31-30 after a penalty try was awarded after the final siren.

Moana remain winless in 2023 while the Blues have jumped up to second on the Super Rugby Pacific ladder.

Sam Curtis scored a late consolation try for the Reds but the Drua have hung on for a 38-30 win to claim back-to-back Super W titles.

Curtis caught a cross-kick from Carys Dallinger to score but the Reds ran out of time against the Drua, who finished with just 13 players.

It is a thoroughly deserved victory for the Fijians, who saved their best for the finals after going 2-3 in the regular season.

The Drua overcome real adversity throughout the season, forced to rely on Brisbane families to feed them at times as financial troubles hit Fijian rugby.

"Off the field, all sorts of turmoil, not sure how they were going to afford to stay on tour, where they were sleeping, what they were doing, shortages of gear, shortages of food supply, strapping tape, all sorts of adversity," Justin Harrison says on Stan Sport.

"What a champion team to do this, to do the double."

The Drua are down to 13 players as Laisani Moceisawana joins captain Bitila Tawake in the sin bin.

The Reds need to strike immediately though - they trail 38-25 after 76 minutes.

The Reds aren't just going to throw in the towel, however, scoring a rolling maul try to give the home fans some hope.

Hooker Tiarna Molloy got the chocolates and the Drua lead is cut to 38-22 after 65 minutes.

The Drua are set to go back to back!

Flanker Karalaini Naisewa has just landed a killer blow, with her combination of power and speed proving too much for the Reds to handle.

The Drua lead 38-17 after 62 minutes.

There was a question mark over the previous try but not this one as Drua winger Adita Milinia finishes a thrilling backline move to seize control of the final.

The Drua now lead 28-17 after 52 minutes and are odds-on to defend their Super W title.

"That's what they are doing so well - keeping the ball alive," Justin Harrison says on Stan Sport.

Sereima Leweniqila has scored a contentious try for the Drua.

"Maybe a question mark over a knock on but the points are on the board," Drew Mitchell says on Stan Sport.

Wow - that is a terrific try from the Reds, with fullback Renae Nona crossing after some slick handling from Alana Elisaia and Ivania Wong.

The Reds are back in front, 17-14 after 46 minutes.

This could turn into an epic final.

Meanwhile, the Blues hold a 17-3 lead over Moana Pasifika in the first half of their Super Rugby Pacific clash at Eden Park.

Forwards Akira Ioane and Kurt Eklund have both scored tries for the Blues - along with winger Caleb Clarke.

Reds five-eighth Carys Dallinger missed a long range penalty and the Drua lead 14-10 at halftime.
