Brumbies coach confirms 'really bad news' for prop after Achilles injury suffered in scrum

Brumbies prop Blake Schoupp is set for a lengthy stint on the sidelines after injuring his Achilles while packing down in a scrum during his side's win over the Reds.
In the 62nd minute, the Brumbies earned a scrum penalty but Schoupp immediately went to the ground.
"This doesn't look good at all ... that's terrible news for Blake Schoupp," Tim Horan said on Stan Sport.

The stretcher was immediately called for Schoupp with medical attention given to him.
A replay showed the prop's leg go in the air while he was on the ground after the scrum collapsed. Achilles injuries traditionally occur when a player is pushing off.
Schoupp was then taken off the field in a medicab as he raised the green whistle to the crowd.

Post-match, Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham confirmed the 27-year-old had snapped his Achilles and will need an operation.
"Really bad news for Blake," he continued.
"He's been in really good form this year, he's been feeling amazing and just took a little bit of extra weight when the scrum went backwards there and tried to push forward and felt it.
"He's not in pain at the moment but obviously that's a fairly lengthy recovery for him."
While no doubt it was sombre feeling for the Brumbies with the injury, Larkham's men had plenty to cheer about when the full time whistle blew.
It was the Reds striking first though when Hunter Paisami scored a special chip and chase try.
That lead became 14-0 with Richie Asiata burrowing over in the 20th minute.
The Brumbies ensured the scores were even just before half time at 14-14 after tries to Rob Valentini and Allan Alaalatoa.
Right before the break, the lead changed when the TMO ruled Brumbies forward Tuaina Taii Tualima had managed to get the ball down.

Asiata put the Reds within two after the break with his second try but then a double to Billy Pollard and penalty goal for Ryan Lonergan handed the Brumbies a 34-19 lead.
Some razzle dazzle by the Reds brought about a try to Dre Pakeho in the 79th minute.
The points carnage didn't stop there as Corey Toole scored after the full time buzzer to seal the 39-26 victory.
"That's a statement from this Brumbies team," Horan said.
