Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii's hopes of taking the field for the Wallabies' final match of the season have received a boost with a medical review revealing subsiding symptoms and no evidence of a fractured arm.

The former NRL star left the field during the Wallabies' 27-13 defeat to Scotland in Edinburgh clutching at his right arm after making a tackle on Sione Tuipulotu, the Melbourne-born Scotland captain.

The injury resulted in a loss of function in Suaalii's arm, caused severe pain and cast doubt over whether he would be available for the Wallabies' final match of the Spring Tour, against Ireland in Dublin on Sunday (AEDT).

Wallabies legend Tim Horan, who was commentating on the match for Stan Sport, described the injury as "shocking", suspected he may have suffered a fracture and said in that case he would miss eight to 10 weeks at least.

But Rugby Australia (RA) said on Tuesday (AEDT) that a medical review had revealed no evidence of a fracture and that function was returning and pain reducing.

RA added that forward Jeremy Williams was making a promising recovery from the illness which had ruled him out of the Test against Scotland.

The Wallabies began the Spring Tour with a 42-37 victory over England at Twickenham, in which Suaalii starred, and a 52-20 thumping of Wales in Cardiff, but the 27-13 loss to Scotland zapped the hype that had been building early in the reign of head coach Joe Schmidt.

Suaalii has played three Tests with the Wallabies since departing the Sydney Roosters to take up a lucrative contract with Rugby Australia.
