Meet Jonah Lomu the 'Aussie rules great'

Trust the Americans to stuff up when it comes to Antipodean sport.

In what ranks as a stereotypical blunder, a US commentator has been left with egg on his face after describing All Blacks great Jonah Lomu as "one of the greatest Australian Rules Football players of all time" during a ringside appearance at a UFC bout.

Lomu was among the crowd watching the UFC in Auckland when the commentator acknowledged his presence and Aussie Rules pedigree - much to the bemusement of the rugby icon and parochial crowd.

As the video shows, the great man takes it in his stride, although looking clearly stunned, with the commentator even mispronouncing his name as "Jonah La-boo".

As they say: only in America. Or at least New Zealand in this case.
