Unlikely bronze medallist 'robbed' after stunning victory
Matthew Glaetzer has been in full training mode during the Olympics.
No room for cheat meals.
Not even a chocolate mousse, which he'd been desperately craving.
The day before his bronze medal glory on August 11, he revealed he was looking forward to a mousse because he hadn't had a dessert in ages.
But what was more motivating? The medal or mousse?
"Definitely a medal," he told Nine.
He got the medal, but his sweet treat wasn't meant to be, with a menu change robbing him of his victory lap.
"The hotel switched the desserts up on me so that mousse is gone but we'll see what's there tonight," he continued.
"I'll definitely treat myself."
'God was looking after me'
Glaetzer (left) was in disbelief after his bronze medal in the Keirin.
The Aussie's achievement came after a crash right before the finish line and he admitted to Nine he was "grateful god was looking after me" as he managed to stay upright.
"Coming out of the final corner I was almost giving up there knowing I was in last and I gave everything. Then everyone crashed and I was like oh my gosh I've got bronze. It's just crazy," he said.
"Things definitely had to fall my way, mind the pun, but super grateful, this is amazing."
'I did a Bradbury'
Australian cyclists Matthew Richardson (left) and Glaetzer walked away with silver and bronze medals in a men's keirin final that was nothing short of thrilling.
In a scene reminiscent of Steven Bradbury's famous Winter Olympics gold medal, Glaetzer found himself in last place going into the final corner, only to see a brutal crash take out three riders in front of him, allowing him to cross the line in third.
Speaking after the race, his wife Nikki, told Nine her husband was ecstatic at his podium finish.
"I think it meant a lot, he was so happy, he was like 'I did a Bradbury'."
Pure relief
Much was at stake for Team USA in the women's basketball final against France – not only was it a gold medal match, but the team was fighting for the gold medal tally.
If Team USA did not win the game, it meant the country had lost to China in overall golds won at Paris 2024.
USA's 67-66 win over France meant they tied with China for golds but won overall because of more silvers.
Neck-and-neck, head-to-head
A'ja Wilson scored 21 points and the US women's basketball team survived the biggest challenge of its unprecedented run to eight straight Olympic gold medals with a 67-66 win over France at Paris 2024.
No team had been able to push the Americans during this impressive streak of 61 consecutive wins.
It came down to the final minute and one last shot by France that was just inside the three-point line.

Hull reunites with family

After producing a thrilling surge in her final lap around Paris, Hull ran to her mother Michelle and brother Declan for a much-needed, heartfelt embrace.
"No one deserves it more," Michelle Hull said.
After the race Hull revealed she had quarantined from her family (apart from her father/coach Simon) since arriving in Paris in a careful bid to stay healthy - a change in routine she v owed to make after falling ill at the 2022 world championships.
The huge sacrifice made this moment, as she embraces her mum and brother having just clinched a silver medal, all the more special.
Farewell to Brazilian legend
Once referred to as 'Pele in skirts' the last of a generation of pioneers, Brazil's greatest ever player, Marta, didn't say a word as she soaked in her team's silver medal.
"We want to give her a really great send-off. It was a dream of mine to play with Marta, and now it's a dream come true," Brazil's Angelina said.
Spain produce gold medal upset
They may have broken the hearts of many Australian's on Sunday, but the Spanish women's water polo team were beaming with joy as they soaked in their victory.
Major upset
It was the gruelling race that bid farewell to an Olympic GOAT and welcomed a new champion.
Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia won the gold medal with a stellar Olympic record in the men's marathon event on Saturday.
Tola surged past Kenyan running royalty Eliud Kipchogepursuit to become the first man in history to win three Olympic marathon gold medals. However, his plan ended with a "did not finish" (DNF).
New USA 'Dream Team' soar
The USA 'dream team' has successfully defended their crown for the fifth consecutive Olympics.
Stephen Curry was the standout performer in the gold medal match, sinking four 3-pointers in the final two minutes.
