Tokyo gold medallist Logan Martin crashes out of BMX freestyle final as new trick backfires
Aussie BMX rider Logan Martin has missed out on the podium in the men's freestyle park at Paris 2024 after two unsuccessful runs.
In his first effort, Martin finished with a 64.40 after his front wheel got caught up on a trick and he crashed heavily.
Earlier in the run he had slipped after starting with a quadruple tail whip, so was unlikely to register a score high enough for a medal but he pressed on.

That left the Tokyo 2020 gold medallist just one final chance to nail a high scoring run and force his way into the medals but he was unable to pull it off after landing low on a double flair - a new trick he'd never attempted in competition. His second run was scored a 33.40.

"He just had no speed and then sat on his tyre and put his foot down ... doing us proud though," expert Ryan Williams explained on Nine.
After the final, Martin said he was still "grateful" for where the sport has taken him and the life he's living while admitting to his disappointment.
"Obviously it wasn't the day I wanted, wasn't able to pull my runs which is super disappointing for me," he said.
"It's not the fact I'm not walking away with a medal it's the fact I couldn't land a run. I always go out there, try and put on my best show, try and put on my best performance and I wasn't able to make that happen today. A little bit disappointed but life moves on, I am OK."

José Torres Gil finished with the gold medal after he scored a 94.82 in his first run.
"He came in clutch at X Games and he's come in clutch at the Paris Olympics," Williams said.
Great Britain's Kieran Darren David Reilly was the silver medallist after his 93.91 in run two.
France's Anthony Jeanjean finished with bronze and brought about the biggest cheer of the final.
After he crashed in his first run and scored 3.22, the 26-year-old was given a 93.76 for an incredible follow up.
His second run included a 360 double tail whip, triple tail whip backflip, double backflip and a previously unseen Alley-oop double flair.
