Rare error can't halt Jess Fox charge towards another gold medal in Paris
Jess Fox has cruised into her second semi-final of Paris 2024, qualifying for the next round of the women's C1 slalom with the second-fastest time despite an error in her second heat run.
The Australian, who is the defending gold medallist in the event after winning in Tokyo, looked fairly comfortable in her first run through the whitewater.
She got a little stuck while spinning through gate seven, but otherwise didn't push too hard and posted the second-fastest time, only 0.61 seconds behind Czechia's Gabriela Satkova.

"It's a good run," father Richard said on commentary.
"She'll have enjoyed that."
In her second run a little over an hour later, it was once again seven proving troublesome, as Fox careened into the gate to pick up a two-second time penalty.

She once again eased off rather than powering to the line, knowing her first run had already guaranteed her semi-final qualification.
None of the top four improved on their times in their second runs.
The semi-final will be held on Wednesday night (AEST), with the final to follow in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Should Fox take gold in that final, it would be an unprecedented sixth Olympic medal, making her the most successful slalom canoeist in the history of the Games.
