Speaking on Nine's coverage, swimming great Ian Thorpe said there had been measures put in place to prevent athletes from contracting any illnesses, including COVID-19.
"The recommendation from the Australian Olympic Committee when travelling was to wear a mask, but it was your choice," Thorpe said.
"We have seen our athletes wearing masks, to prevent spreading it to other people, or to protect themselves from other things that they may pick up on the plane."
Pallister had earlier withdrawn from the 400m freestyle - won by teammate Ariarne Titmus - to focus on her other events.
She will participate in the 4x200m freestyle relay on Thursday, along with the 800m freestyle heats on Friday.
