Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 day two: Aussie Jakara Anthony claims gold in women's moguls, Tess Coady wins bronze for Australia

Jakara Anthony has become the sixth Australian to claim gold at the Winter Olympics after triumphing in the women's moguls.

After qualifying for the finals tonight, Anthony produced top scores in both the final-20 and final-12 events of the women's moguls, before once again coming out on top in the Super Final to clinch the gold medal.

In a thrilling Super Final, in which she was the last to run in, Anthony edged out American Jaelin Kauf.

The 23-year-old saved her best for last and was rewarded with a score of 83.09 to earn Australia's first gold medal since the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Kauf claimed the silver medal with a score of 80.28, while bronze went to Russian Anastasiia Smirnova (77.72).

"It's really incredible to know that all the hard work that I have been putting into my whole skiing career is really paying off," Anthony said after winning gold.

Jakara Anthony WINS gold at the women's moguls.

It's Australia's first gold medal since the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Anthony edged out American Jaelin Kauf, who claimed silver with a score of 80.28.

The Bronze medal went to Russian Anastasiia Smirnova.

"It's really incredible to know that all the hard work that I have been putting into my whole skiing career is really paying off," Anthony said after winning gold.

"I'm just lost for words... It is a real testament to myself and the team around me in the last four years.

She will be up once again in a matter of moments, skiing last in the super final after putting down a top score of 81.29.

An incredible result for the Australian, who in the first final finishes with a top score of 81.91.

Anthony will be competing again very shortly as she eyes a spot in the final six.

In other results during the final 20 event of women's moguls, fellow Aussies Sophie Ash and Britt Cox fell just short of reaching the next stage.

Sophie Ash starts off the women's moguls finals with a strong run, producing a score of 70.47.

But at the moment, it looks like four-time Olympian Britt Cox is Australia's best chance of making it to the next stage of the finals after posting a score of 73.04.
