Treasure hunt set to start ahead of big Brisbane 2032 reveal
A touch of Queensland is set to be included in the emblem for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, unveiled over a six-day event.
The organising committee for Brisbane 2032 will slowly unveil the emblem through a series of events and treasure hunts across the state before the big reveal on Monday, October 5.

Details of the treasure hunt are being kept top secret, but 9News Queensland spotted Olympic hero Ian Thorpe in Cairns on Monday before he headed out to the Great Barrier Reef as part of the week’s festivities.
“It is a great honour to be involved in any capacity around an Olympic Games and I think what we’re doing is showcasing the very best that Queensland has to offer,” he said.
Australian Paralympic swimmer Grant “Scooter” Patterson was also spotted heading out to sea with Thorpe.
“We’re just a couple of Dolphins out in the reef looking for buried treasure,” he smiled.
“I’m definitely humbled to be part of this.”
The first piece of the emblem will be unveiled on Nine’s Today on Tuesday morning.
Brisbane 2032 organising committee president Andrew Liveris told News Corp the week-long event was about celebrating the whole state’s involvement in the Games.
“For the first time in Games history, our emblems will be revealed piece by piece before a full reveal and community celebration in Brisbane,” he said.
“Our Games will stretch right across Queensland, so what better way to celebrate and mark this significant milestone than by revealing pieces in some of the townships that will co-host in 2032.
“Without giving too much away, people can expect a range of elements incorporated as part of our emblems, with plenty of colour and a touch of cheekiness – a trait synonymous with Queensland the world over.
“We’re preparing to welcome the world in less than six years’ time, and our emblems will play a big part in how we promote our nature, warm and welcoming people, love of sport and cultural heritage, inviting millions to visit and billions to tune in come 2032.”
The 2000 Sydney Olympics are a synonymous event with every Australian’s life, most can tell you where they were and what events they attended as the world-class event descended on the city during the millennium.
Australia last hosted the Olympics in 2000, when Sydney cleverly used a boomerang, sun and silhouette of smoke in the form of the Opera House to depict the figure of an athlete.
Alongside the crest reveal, Brisbane will now plan their handover ceremony to conclude the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
Alongside the individual crest, the Games vision ‘Believe. Belong. Become. Brisbane 2032’ will become synonymous with the event for years to come as Aussies count down the days until the country is back on the world stage.
