Thorpe, Scooter find first piece of official Brisbane 2032 emblem
The first piece of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics emblem has been revealed.
Aussie icons Ian Thorpe and Grant “Scooter” Patterson found the first emblem piece while snorkelling in Cairns and revealed it to Nine’s Today on Tuesday morning.

“It’s kind of incredible,” Thorpe said.
“We’ve been looking for the first part of the emblem... trying to work out what it is.
“First reaction was, is it a ray of sunshine? And I think we’re a a bit smarter than that. So it could be the tail of a crocodile?
“But I saw a turtle (while I was in the water), and I’m thinking it could be one of the arms of a turtle.
“I’ve been in the water looking for this thing... we found it together.”
Patterson claims he saw the emblem piece first, and is also curious as to what it might be.
“Or a crocodile tooth, who knows,” Patterson said.
“We were a great team, a couple of Dolphins out looking for this thing.”
The official Brisbane 2032 emblem is being unveiled over six days, starting with the first piece on Tuesday.
A new piece will be “found” via treasure hunts involving Aussie sporting legends each day, before the full emblem is unveiled on Monday.
While Thorpe won’t be competing at Brisbane 2032, having led Australia to glory in Sydney 32 years earlier, Patterson plans to be back to compete in the Paralympic Games in his home state.
“I’m pumped to be a part of this,” he said.
“It’s only six years away, and we never know who could be there.”
