Sam Burgess has won his battle with the American government and will fly into Las Vegas on Thursday.

In a major boost to the rugby league gala day this weekend, the Warrington coach - one of the best-known figures in the rugby league world - will now be able to attend.

The South Sydney legend was unable to fly to Vegas with his team earlier this week from England for the clash with Wigan due to visa issues.

A desperate Burgess travelled to London in a bid to expedite his visa and finally resolved the problem late Wednesday.

Individuals with criminal records are routinely interviewed by the US consulate before being granted visas - and sometimes denied.

Burgess pleaded guilty to three driving charges in 2021.

He also tested positive to cocaine after a roadside test in Australia but avoided conviction and was ordered to complete a traffic offenders program.

"It's great that he will be here with his team for such an historic game," Warrington boss Karl Fitzpatrick told Wide World of Sports.

Warrington plays Wigan in the first game (8.30am AEDT) on Sunday.
